Our approach

LexAudit is an AI contract-review tool built for lawyers and legal professionals. It is designed around a simple principle: client confidentiality comes before model improvement. This page explains, in plain terms, how we handle the contracts you upload, how our analysis works, and what we do — and do not do — with your information.

This page is intended to be clear and practical. It is not a substitute for the terms of your agreement with us, which govern in the event of any inconsistency.

Your documents remain yours

Contracts and documents you upload to LexAudit remain the property of you or your client. Uploading a document does not transfer any ownership of, or rights in, that document to us.

We process your documents for one purpose: to generate the analysis you request — for example, extracting contract facts, mapping the agreement, reviewing clauses, and producing a report. We do not use your documents for unrelated purposes.

Confidentiality

We understand that the documents you review are often privileged and highly sensitive. We treat every uploaded contract as confidential. Access is limited to what is necessary to provide the service, and we do not sell, rent, or share your documents or their contents with third parties for their own purposes.

LexAudit is a review aid, not a replacement for your professional judgment or for your own confidentiality, privilege, and conflict-of-interest obligations toward your clients.

AI processing

LexAudit combines deterministic, rule-based processing with AI language models to analyze contracts. Documents are processed only to produce the analysis you have asked for.

LexAudit may use third-party AI infrastructure providers to process documents for the purpose of generating the requested analysis. These providers do not receive documents for their own model training where our provider settings and terms allow us to prevent that use.

How LexAudit learns

LexAudit improves over time — but not by absorbing your contracts. Instead, the product gets better through durable, human-curated knowledge assets that capture legal expertise in a structured, reviewable form. These include:

• Contract taxonomy — how contract types and subtypes are classified.
• Deterministic extraction rules — patterns used to identify facts and clauses.
• ARL ontology — our model of a contract's assets, relationships, and lifecycle.
• Legal snapshots — structured reference points for contract categories.
• Legal style guide — how generated text should read.
• Phrase library — approved wording and phrasing preferences.
• Specimen registry — abstract identifiers used to track example patterns.

These knowledge assets are maintained deliberately and are meant to hold general legal knowledge, not client material. They should not contain confidential client documents, filenames, or party names. Improvements to LexAudit come from refining this durable knowledge — not from training on your contracts.

Data retention

We retain uploaded documents only as long as reasonably necessary to generate and deliver the requested analysis, operate the service, and address user support or security issues. As the product matures, we intend to define and publish a more specific retention schedule.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information you entrust to us, including access controls and encryption of data in transit.

We do not claim certification under, or full compliance with, any specific security standard on this page. If you require detailed security documentation for a procurement or due-diligence process, please contact us and we will share what is available.
